A moment for intolerance

Comments

Boy, this is a tough one because I really believe in the sanctity of the First Amendment. Where do we draw the line? At what point does speech become intolerable? Right now I think the best course of action is to ignore the bastards. Any reaction gives them fuel to spew more hate. I wrestled with this when the White Supremecists wanted to march in Skokie IL. It was repulsive, but still within their rights. Just like with the "Patriot Act" , when we start to chink away at the Bill of Rights, there's no going back.
[this is good]

You're right. I know you're right. But, I guess I hold too much hate in my heart. Maybe it's too much testosterone, or maybe I'm just hotheaded, but there's something in me that just wants to do something, anything.

Normally, I'm pretty good about holding my nose, and carrying on, but these "people" just make me want to get very, very intolerant.

I really hesitate before evening putting this link up, but have you seen their site? Even the icon trashes America. Even the warning page spews the worst kind of hate. It's like they cannot help but be disgusting by their very nature...

That such horrible trolls are allowed to disrupt the funerals of service people, people who died, misguided or not, giving their lives for others, is a real abomination. So, yes, you are right. It would be better if I could ignore them, and it would be better to just leave the 1st amendment alone. But, if they're in my face? It takles quite a bit more willpower than I have to ignore them.

Yup. Looks like i got my "wish". I still have mixed feelings, knowing that some free speech got lost, here, but still, it's hard to see past my distaste for them...
From what I read in the court's decision, it was based on invasion of privacy and intent to inflict emotional distress. I guess they're saying that free speech is fine unless and until it infringes on someone else's rights. I think I can live with that.
