Behind every great man
So, the first you might have heard of Samantha Power is when she called Senator Clinton a "monster' (an assessment that might not be so far from wrong. I think the kind of will to power required to be a candidate for President is as monsterous as Nietzche came to be) but I saw her speak back in the mid 1990's. She's smart, and she probably has some good intentions, but I have to say, ultimately, I disagree with her on a fundamental level. See, whether you're talking about "spreading democracy" or "combatting genocide" unilaterally using military force is still an invasion.
I didn't know it was Power who determined Obama's stand on foreign policy, but now that I do? I still think Obama lost me on that. (Look back, around about August I came to that conclusion). Again, she's probably smarter than me, and probably has good intentions, but I don't think we should fight monsters by becoming monsters, ourselves.
