You are making out to be a moster.
I have spent the last couple of day watching the news and on the net trying to get all the information I could on what happened to Benoit and his Family. After seeing what actually happen, I have come to the conclusion that no matter how many memories he left, this was a terrible thing he did and got what he had coming to him! BUT, Where was the WWE? Where was His friends and most of all Where was His Family? Why didn't they see what was going on?
These questions need to be ask. He was on the road for 300 days a yr with the WWE. They couldn't see something changing in this guy? He work with these guys and he Partied with these guys every day! Now when you work with someone and things start changing in that someone you see the changes.
Their is enough blame to go around here, but I can not forget Chris Benoit is a murderer! No matter how many memories he left us, you can not over look the fact he killed his wife and child.
Now, I have a few questions:

1. Why would he bound is wifes legs and hands in tape before killing her? He didn't have to do that, he was strong enough to do this without doing this.
2. Why would he both strangle his 7yr old son and smother him by pushing his face into his pillow?
3. Why would he stay in the house with his dead wife and child and on top of that be able to send tex messages and have phone conversations with the WWE and friends with out them knowing something was wrong?

There are many question about this that will be with us forever and more question will be coming up as the yrs pass.

Every time I think of the memories I think of the 7yr old boy that lost his life.

Its a sad day for all wrestling fan.
thanks for the kind words, sean. While it does look like he did murder a 7 year old, I have to take into account the whole picture. Seeing as I don't have the whole picture, I don't see how it would help anyone to act like I do.
Angela, I'm not quite sure what your comment means, but I'll take the "this is good" as a compliment, so I thank you.

I agree with you that it's baffling, Don. The picture painted by virtually everyone is of a calm, dignified family man, not a bully or a psycho. Either he was excellent at presenting a front, and fooled the world, or there's something missing, here. Of course, people go easier on dead people, and there could be some of that, but i don't think that fully explains it. I'm hoping that the WWE, at least, doesn't completely "erase" Chris Benoit, if for no other reason than to explain how there could be such a huge split between what we thought we knew, and what actually was...

I agree that there's something odd about the murder scenes: binding up his wife? A scenario comes to mind, but it's pure speculation: perhaps Nancy killed the son, and Benoit killed her, after restraining her? Pure speculation, of course, but that could be one reason.

Smothering the boy, seems odd, too. I hope they really are thorough in checking out the physical evidence. Because, again, it could even be that the poor boy had multiple assailants, to go with multiple attacks.

And yes, then there is the question about hanging out in a house with your dead family. I can only think that mr. Benoit was trying to get all of his affairs in order before he left this world, but again, that's just a guess.

Even if the mystery of who killed who is solved, there are many, many mysteries, here.

The puzzle pieces do not fit, that's for sure. It will take months, if not years, to gather evidence and try to form it all together into a coherent whole, and perhaps we'll never know it all. It's a horrible tragedy for all involved. I think the doctors who are advocating a study of Chris' brain structure have a good idea--I once knew a man who had an incomplete brain, causing him to not be able to control his temper. As in, he was born with a piece of the brain that everyone else has missing. So, thinking about this guy I used to know, and thinking about all the concussions and brain damage Benoit might have experienced as a wrestler with a signature head-plant move, I am wondering if a combo of stress, fatigue, medications, innate propensity towards depression, and brain damage caused the "snap."
You're absolutely right that we could have a case for Oliver Sachs, here. That is to say: there could be some variant form of brain damage that destabilized the man. Again, as I said before, (redundancy is a stylistic thing, ok? Maybe?) I can't blame the man for his disease, but regardless of that disease, i can blame the man for some poor choices, so while he may be off the proverbial hook for intent, and thus, not be a "monster" in our traditional sense, he still committed some monsterous acts: even if he didn't kill Nancy, there can be no doubt that he had a hand in a murder.
