Gimme

Some things are just "gimmes". Like with Swine Flu, or H1N1, or whatever they're calling it, this week. It's a pretty obvious diversionary tactic. There's no story, really. The point at which I realized it was media grandstanding was when they said that "nobody could understand why it was hitting mexico city harder than the US. Gee, the city with the worst Air Pollution ever known in this solar system is exacerbating a respiratory ailment? No scientist could possibly explain that.

That's a 'gimme'. So's Pakistan. You put in the Husband of an early backer of the Taliban in charge, and you expect the Taliban to fade into the background, right?  But much more worrisome is the idea that Pakistan might become an Arms Dealer. This is as much a "gimme" as the rest. If you're not paying attention, it goes like this: Pakistan has the bomb, and is enemies with our friends, at the same time, friends with our enemies. We have put into power exactly the wrong people in order to build up for a war our administration wants. Then, we cry "foul' when they act exactly as they have before. Remind you of anything? That's not a "gimme' but, it's close.
