More election thoughts

[this is good]
Not a chance. American politics is all about Low-Information Rationality not policy positions or the credentials of the players. It's not that the middle class isn't aware their gettin' the shit kicked out of them, they know. What they have forgotten is government by the people is a process and you got to poke that process in the direction of your interest. We think, because we can quote the preamble, we are players but how many really know the rules, rights, and rituals of the Beltway.

Mark-ups, conferees, advice and consent, cloture, administrative regs and executive orders aren't sexy and can't compete with "Dancing With The Stars".

Face it, Facebook, not FUBAR, is on everybody's lips, so politicians talk social networks not social compacts, and the process designed to form a more perfect union gets punked.

Great speech, by the way, but if the election goes the way I think it will, I re-read it in 09, after longing in from over seas.

Regards, and I hope K-Cat is feeling better.

Regardsright back atcha!

I guess it's because of circumstances of my upbringing, or its because of where i live, but I just cannot bring myself to not care about what our government does, and how it does(or doesn't) do it. I know I'm strange, and probably better suited for life in a small northern european country where direct involvement with the operations of the government are unavoidable, but as long as I'm here.

If you're as worried as I am, you might want to look into the "draft Gore" folks. I can forgive Tipper for the PMRC, and forgive Al for lying down to the stolen election, so long as he comes in strong and shows the courage of his convictions, this time. Maybe choose a better running mate. How would you like Gore/Dean?

Yeah, Fantasy football politics, I know, but with such a strong "throw the bums out" vibe in the country, and such weak candidates on both sides, this go around, I think it's kinda "now or never" for independant, third party, or other unusual campaigns....
