QotD: I Was Wrong
How often are you wrong? Do you find it difficult to admit it when you are?

1st: this post title is a GREAT Social Distortion song.
Ok, that out of the way, I'm wrong on a daily basis, so admitting it is no problem. The problem comes in dealing with it. I'm never sure if I've got that part right.
I'll tell you one way of dealing with it that's wrong, in itself:
I cuss like a sailor. I mean, really bad. BUT, I don't cuss like an east coast sailor, so folks around here don't always understand, and get offended. EG: I drop the wrench and mutter "MF'er". Now, if somebody's nearby, they think I'm calling them a MF'er. Another EG: "F Me" or "F You". See, I use those less in an aggressive way and more in a passive way: more like "bad things are happening to you" and less like "I'm going to make bad things happen to you". So, I drop the wrench into a pool of oil and say "Awwww, F You", what I mean to be saying is "Oh, no, now I'm going to have to root around in all that dirty oil, and this is going to get messy". What I'm not saying is "Arrrgh, this is all your fault you bad pool of oil", you see? And all that is why swearing is bad. It's inexact vague language, easy to misunderstand, thus creating more wrong stuff to feel bad about....
